FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Clanker Coin?

An independent, Rust-based Layer-1 cryptocurrency secured by ClankerHash proof-of-work, built for payments and Web3 applications. There is no premine, founder allocation, or admin key.

Is there a public network?

Not yet. As of September 2026, Clanker Coin is in alpha: there is no public testnet or mainnet running, and no CLKC in circulation.

How do I get CLKC?

There is no way to buy CLKC today, because there is no public network yet. Once a network launches, mining is the way new coins enter circulation, following the fixed subsidy schedule.

Is it ASIC resistant?

No. ClankerHash makes no ASIC-resistance claim. It is designed to run well on ordinary GPUs and CPUs, and external hardware including ASICs and FPGAs can connect over Clanker Stratum like any other miner.

Is there a premine?

No. The genesis block pays no outputs, and there is no founder allocation, development fund, or admin key anywhere in the protocol.

Where do I download?

From /download on this site, which mirrors the official GitHub releases. Obtain software only from clanker-coin.com and github.com/ClankerCoin.

How do I verify a download?

Compare its SHA-256 checksum against the SHA256SUMS file published with the same release. Binaries are not yet code-signed, so the checksum and the GitHub release page are the verification path today.

Can I run a pool?

The protocol is designed for it: external hardware and pool software connect over Clanker Stratum, a protocol currently in design and implemented today in the node’s own solo-mining server. No public pool exists yet.
